Broadbeach
Beaches

The attraction of pristine, Gold Coast beaches has lured holiday makers to the Gold Coast for generations. Little wonder with over 50 km of clear waters, great surf, golden sands and surf life savers patrolling all the major bathing locations.

And central to all of this is Broadbeach, home of the renowned Kurrawa Beach which has hosted the Australian Surf Lifesaving Titles for several years.  A wide expanse of golden sand separates the waters edge from the shoreline. A pedestrian shopping mall and a café precinct lie just off the beach, together with children’s play equipment and fairground rides.

Kurrawa Beach is known as a safe bathing location. Two patrolled areas ensure safe swimming conditions for everyone.  The period October to May sees the volunteer lifesavers from Kurrawa and Broadbeach Surf Clubs on weekend duty. On every other day of the year, Gold Coast Council lifeguards patrol the beaches from a network of beach towers.

The Council life saver patrols utilise helicopters, boats, jet skis and watercraft in patrol and rescue operations, providing a world class level of supervision and protection for all bathers. Beach and surf safety is promoted extensively on the Gold Coast to assist visitors in understanding the risks and how to avoid them.

Broadbeach’s golden sands are perfect for rest, relaxation and surfing, or try your hand at beach kiting, beach cricket, volleyball or sand sculpturing.  Not to be overlooked is the morning walk when early risers hit the sand for exercise, fresh air  and bid welcome to another day in paradise.
